Whole30 Day 3

Ugh. Today I just REALLY wanted a big, greasy, delicious hamburger!!!

Breakfast was 2 bananas and some jerky. Not entirely sure if it was compliant, but it was pretty good. Of course I also had my morning tea.

Lunch was a salad. Just lettuce, tomatoes, olives and sunflower seeds. Found out after the fact sunflower seeds are a no go. Whoops. There weren’t that many so I think I’m OK! I also had some tomato basil soup. Didn’t think I’d like it, but YUM!

For dinner I made a sweet potato hash casserole. Just had shredded sweet potatoes, pork sausage and eggs. Turned out delicious! Hoping it reheats well.

Still no soda or energy drinks. Have to admit I almost had a soda today, but didn’t. Drank lots of water again.

Since starting Whole30 I’ve noticed my reflux is going nuts. I’ll have to keep an eye on it.

Whole30 Day 2

Today was a little tricky. I had to be in Wausau for a Life class at 8am. I woke up later than I planned, so I again left without making breakfast or a lunch!!

On the way to Wausau I stopped at Kwik Trip. For breakfast I had a watermelon cup and a cantaloupe cup with my tea. I was a bit hungry still, but resisted eating any of the donuts they had at the class. They smelled so A-MAZING!

Lunch was catered in from a local eatery. Sandwiches, cookies and chips. I refrained and ate my veggie salad with 2 hard boiled eggs. Got some weird looks since I was the only one not eating the food brought in. Tomorrow is a salad bar thankfully!

Today when I got home shortly after 6pm Eric had dinner going. He made a duck with a pasta salad. First time I’ve ever had duck. Honestly tasted just like chicken. Skipped the pasta salad and made some green beans and sliced up a pear.

Managed almost 64oz of water today! Today was also day 2 of no soda or energy drinks. To escape the horrible headaches my morning tea and afternoon tea has some caffeine, but no where near what I was consuming.

Whole30 Day 1

For those who don’t know, Whole30 is basically eating no processed junk or added sugars for 30 days. Totally more to it, but that’s the gist of it.

Day 1 = Epic Failure … Or was it?

Missed breakfast because I overslept. My mom had a mild stroke Dec 31st so sleeping has not been easy as of late, not that it ever really has been. Typically I’d hit the McDonald’s drive through for a delicious McGriddle or a McMuffin, but today I resisted. Sipped my tea I made before leaving and turned my nose up to my usual breakfast go to. Score 1 for me!

Work was INSANE. Non stop calls and walk ins. And to make it more awesome co worker went home sick. At 3pm I resigned myself to the fact I was not getting a lunch. And I was almost dying of starvation. To fight off the hunger pains I drank water like nobody’s business. And eventually succumbed to a Nature’s Valley Oats & Honey Granola Bar. Fail. Day 1 and already munching a non compliant food. BUT! In my drawer I also had chocolates and other candy, chips and cakes. So ha! Score 2 for me!

Typically 5pm and I’m shutting down. 645pm and I was FINALLY on my way home! Sent the hubs a message earlier to start dinner (roast with carrots and potatoes) but no response. I just knew there would be no dinner waiting for me on the dining room table. As I drove past every fast food place known to man, I resisted the urge to just say screw it, I’ll start over tomorrow. No. Instead I drove home and made baked chicken strips (tenderloin) and sliced red potatoes with tea. Score again! That’s 3 victories today!

So, sure. I may have eaten one non compliant food, but it was the best food choice available to me. And I resisted the urge more than once to indulge in a 1200 calorie burger. And I cooked a dinner for myself even though it meant eating at 830pm. So maybe today wasn’t such a failure after all.
